  İngiltere'de “”dumansız nesil Birleşik Krallık'ta Parlamento, yeni nesil için ömür boyu sigara içmeyi yasaklayan bir yasa tasarısını onayladı. Bu nedenle "sigarasız nesil" yaratma girişimi kapsamında 1 Ocak 2009 tarihinden sonra doğan kişilere sigara satışı yasaktır. Bu yıl 15 yaşını dolduran çocuklar, Salı gecesi yürürlüğe giren yasayla hayatlarının geri kalanında sigara alamayacak. Tasarıya Avam Kamarası'nın 383 üyesi destek verirken, 67 üye karşı çıktı.
